"Colombo marks the second decade of IIFA. The nominees for the Micromax IIFA Awards 2010 are a compilation of the best work from the previous year and the suspense and celebration of these worthy nominations will undoubtedly create another magical IIFA," said Sabbas Joseph, one of the directors of Wizcraft, in a statement.
According to the latest buzz, filmmaker Karan Johar, who is known to be one of SRK’s closest friends, and also seems to be quite fond of Ranbir, had approached the young heartthrob with three scripts to be made under the Dharma banner. And in one of them, Karan wanted to cast SRK and Ranbir together.
Just when heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor was being likened to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the Kapoor scion has refused to work with the latter.
Well, believe it or not, but despite the fact that the script is said to be impressive, Ranbir has turned down the offer. Sources reveal that Ranbir has told Karan that he isn’t doing two-hero projects at the moment, and so he would much rather put this project on hold.
A source close to the actor maintains, “SRK is leagues ahead of Ranbir. And a filmmaker who casts these two actors together will naturally be more partial to SRK. Also, chances are that SRK will steal Ranbir’s thunder if they come together now. While Ranbir respects Shah Rukh’s success and talent, he is still not ready to take up the challenge of being seen with him on screen as yet. The day Ranbir feels he can match up to King Khan, he will do a film with him.”
After a spate of international documentaries on Mumbai carnage, a full length movie--Ashok Chakra--set against the backdrop of the country`s most audacious terror attack will hit the threatres on May 28.
The film which was earlier titled Total Ten has been directed by S P Munishwar and produced by Hari Om Sharma under the banner of Sapna Films Production.
Rajan Verma, a newcomer, dons the role of Kasab and has a striking resemblance to the 22-year-old Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist.
The film`s first promos, which will see Rajan in a full nude scene accepting his guilt in a monologue, will be out on May 9. In the film, Kasab is sentenced to death and hanged.
"The USP of the movie is that the guy who plays Kasab looks exactly like him, that is the added attraction of the movie. I play Vijay Salaskar, a sharp shooter. I have an image of a policeman, so they approached me with this role. They showed me some pictures and briefed me about the him," Sudesh Berry, who plays the role of the slain police officer said.
"One of my friends was familiar with Salaskar, so he also told me about the man in real life. He was a simple man, not one of the typical foul-mouthed policemen we generally see," he added.
The Rs 2.5 crore film based on media reports of the carnage and accounts of police officials and survivors pieces together the 60-hour ordeal the city went through.
Other actors in the movie include Homi Wadia (Hemant Karkare), Ashok Kulkarni (Ashok Kamte) and Ashish Vidyarthi (Tukaram Ombale). The film also has a host of small-time actors playing Kasab`s Pakistani handlers.
SHAHID KAPOOR as a bad guy in the dark thriller Kaminey and will now be seen as a conman in Badmaash Company. Shahid Kapoor says playing characters with a negative streak is an 'escape route' from his good-boy image in real life.
'I think I always wanted to be a good boy, but I think inherently I have a badmaash [naughty] streak in me. That's why I love doing this role. This is my escape route. What I couldn't do in my childhood, [I'm] doing it in films,' Shahid said.
I won't really call this guy a bad guy. Badmaash is a little less of a bad guy than a kamina. In Kaminey, from the very beginning, Charlie is edgy and different, but here when the film begins you will find that the four characters are normal middle-class guys and then they get into doing these scams and schemes,' the actor said.
'In Kaminey Charlie never used to think... he was spontaneous, but here the guy is lot more of a thinker, planner and schemer. I think it's fun playing a bad guy,' he said. 'These guys want to do things on their own terms. That's what today's youth are all about. They want to set their own rules, make things in their own way. They find their own route to success. That's why the tag line says 'they want to do all the wrong things in the right way'.'
Set in the 1990s, Sethi's directorial debut Badmaash Company will see four young friends - Shahid, Anushka Sharma, Vir Das and Meiyang Chang - from middle-class Mumbai joining hands to start a company. Their business is an instant success because they find a way to beat the system.
