‘Munnabhai’ and ‘Circuit’ will Back again

Latest news has it that the brilliant trio – Vidhu Vinod Chopra, director Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijaat Joshi can’t find a way to take the Munnabhai sequel ahead. Sanjay Dutt (Munnabhai) and Arshad Warsi (Circuit) often say that the third part is under way but according to an insider, “No Munnabhai film is even being written.”

“Since Raju and Vinod had to can the ‘Munnabhai Chale Amrika’ script after their idea was used in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name in Khan’, these two filmmakers have mentally drawn the curtains on Munnabhai. They see no way to keep this character alive,” says a source.

Moreover, the trio is busy with their respective projects. Vidhu Vinod Chopra will start his ‘Broken Horses’ in September this year while Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi are busy likewise with other scripts.

Earlier, there were speculations that Sanjay Dutt looks to old to play Munnabhai, so the filmmakers are having second thoughts on casting him again.

Whatever may be the reason but it is very likely that it may be good-bye time for Munnabhai and Circuit!

Kites is again in trouble

On Monday, a Bihar Civil Court ordered a stay on the film's release after a person named Laxmi Prasad, of Sunbeam Holdings, claimed that Roshan owes him Rs 10 crore, allegedly for the copyright of the action scenes in the film.

Hrithik Roshan starrer Kites just can't keep out of trouble. A week before the release of the Rs 150 crore film, producer Rakesh Roshan faces allegations of copyright infringement.

Talking to HT City, a baffled Roshan said he's never heard of this man before. "I have no idea who this guy is. He lives in some village in Bihar and claims that he has the copyright for the action of my film.

How is it even possible? The action director of our film is Hollywood-based Spiro Razatos. There is absolutely no truth in this. My legal advisors are looking into the matter and the team is flying to Bihar today (Tuesday) and I hope the matter is resolved soon." Rubbishing rumours that Roshan agreed for an out-of-court settlement and will pay Prasad Rs 5 crore now, Roshan says, "I have never heard from him, I have never met him or spoken to him for any sort of negotiation.

Kangna may be his lucky mascot

Kangna Ranaut may be his lucky mascot, but director Anurag Basu wasn`t keen on casting her in his much-talked about international love story `Kites` which is released on 21st May

"I was not considering Kangana at all for this film (`Kites`) because she has done big and meaty roles. I couldn`t tell her that `Kangna you are my lucky mascot, please do this film`," Basu told reporters.

Kangna, however, didn`t have any apprehension in doing a cameo in the film that stars Hrithik Roshan and Mexican actress Barbara Mori.

"I was the one who gave her a break (in `Gangster - A Love Story`) and she is a very good friend of mine. She knew the length of the role and she still wanted to be a part of the film. Her role is like a guest appearance and that is what has also been credited for her in the film," he added.

Lady Sovereign has confessed about her lesbian

British rapper Lady Sovereign has confessed she is a lesbian, insisting she would have come out of the closet sooner if publicists hadn`t persuaded her to keep her sexual orientation a secret.

Now the 24-year-old star has finally come clean about her sexual persuasion, saying that she was advised not to tell the truth about being gay when she first became famous, Contact music reported.

"Magazines would always ask about it (sexuality) but (they) would get stopped by my publicists. It was my choice, too, because I was a bit worried about it - but now I don`t really give a damn," said the artist.

She is much relieved now that she has put an end to all the speculations and is feeling much more comfortable.

"You can`t hide away forever. It`s just stupid and now I`ve come out I feel a lot more comfortable with myself. But it was a bit scary back then, because some people do have horrible opinions," she added.

Sovereign is the third artist to have confessed to being homosexual since Spanish singer Ricky Martin confessed to his being gay last month.

Love triangle with Arshad Warsi

After being married for over a decade, Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria are reportedly set to separate. The couple that has been in news for quite some time now for their rocky relationship has finally decided to call it quits and move in different directions. The actor has moved out of his Yari Road house after a fight with Maria and is presently staying in a flat at Andheri. And like all separations, here too there is third person involved.

Apparently, it’s Arshad’s romantic alliance with his latest co-star Dia Mirza that has caused havoc in his personal life. Earlier too, filmdom was abuzz with reports that all was not well between Arshad and Maria. But now it seems things have gone way out of control.

Confirming the news a source said, “The couple has not been on good terms for sometime now. It seems that the problem has now reached a point where they can’t get along any longer. Arshad moved out of their house before reaching the sets of Golmaal 3 in Goa where he is currently shooting.”

Talking about the reason behind the split, the source adds, “The bone of contention has been Arshad’s link-up with Dia Mirza. Maria obviously is not happy about it. It looked like they had reached a compromise in the past, but it was clearly a temporary arrangement. The entire industry was shocked last year when reports of their tumultuous relationship started doing the rounds. Arshad finally decided to move out of the house. Their two children are with Maria.”

RAAVAN will not be screened at IIFA

Mani Ratnam film `Raavan`, will not be screened at the 11th India International Film Academy Award.

``Raavan`` is a loose adaptation of the Hindu epic ``Ramayana``, in which Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, was abducted by the Lanka King, Ravana. Reportedly, the film will have a new twist on the ``Ramayana``, as the film does not follow the plot of the epic.

Academy Award-winner A R Rahman has composed the score of the film, which is slated to release on Friday (June 18). The IIFA 2010 is being viewed in Sri Lanka as a ``coming out`` platform for a nation that is emerging from 30 years of civil conflict.

However, there are speculations that the decision came after IIFA is being looked upon as controversial function by some south Indian filmmakers, as it is being held in Sri Lanka, where Sri Lankan Tamils were reportedly massacred last year.

The Tamil film fraternity has also rejected the idea of an Indian film event in Sri Lanka. Even popular Tamil actors Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Vijay, Ajith and Surya have also reportedly declined to take part in the IIFA.

Recently, the Tamil community group in Mumbai staged a protest at the residence of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is a brand ambassador for IIFA.

Bachchan is due to attend the awards ceremony in Colombo from June 3-5.

IIFA is an organization dedicated to promoting Indian Cinema abroad, focusing on places with concentrations of Indian Diaspora, and the awards function last year was held in Macau in China.
